i spent the day visiting a series of exhibitions in the hague: lucian freud, van zoetendaal photo collection and rotterdam: jan bons all three shows were excellent and very much worth the trip, although the freud show didn’t have as many of his better known works as i had hoped…

i’m looking forward to seeing the final edit of the ‘jan bons’ film (made by designer lex reitsma) after seeing a rough cut at the show today, his book & the accompanying dvd are being released tomorrow on his 90th birthday… congratulations

this full-page newspaper ad for the dutch newspaper ‘de volkskrant’ was conceived by me studio as part of a series commenting on climate change… the text says: ever-increasing affluence, ever-increasing consumption… what’s the problem?

the water has smeared the ink to reveal the word ‘water’, the concept and type was by me, femke shot the image…

it should be placed in the weekend edition in the coming weeks…

exactly how ad agency ‘jwt spain’ managed to convince ‘martin scorsese’ to take part in a commercial for the horrendous wine brand ‘freixnet’ is a mystery to me but this spoof hitchcock remake had me fooled at first… especially as i saw it via another site without the branding giving it away… interesting example of how the ad industry is trying to keep up with our growing collective intolerance to traditional advertising techniques…
