the ccc 2009 have been bombarding me with spam about their conference this year, they even have a manifesto that starts with the following sentence: We believe that leveraging ideas is the key to the creative economy and the future of business.
is it just me or does this not really sound very inspiring?

on the other hand i suppose it is fairly typical of a young design generation that is emerging as a result of the internet democratisation, there are no longer really typical design styles that belong to certain nations, although they look like they’re having fun…
there are a bewildering number of design blogs online and they are multiplying at a pace, here are three of the new crop i found recently: the fleuron which is run by jim, who used to run the (now defuncy) ‘serif blog’, visuelle and the typojungle
i wish however that some blogs would do more than just provide a ‘linkdump’ of cool work from other designers, it would be nice to see what the makers do themselves and hear a bit more opinion and ideas being shared… i would like to think that the ‘me’ blog tries to do just that… after all the more blogs there are the more vital it becomes to have a unique perspective on things surely?
i may have mentioned dutch designers ‘stout kramer’ before on this blog… the dutch word ‘stout’ means naughty or bad, their work however is definitely not bad, but good (sorry for the terrible pun)
