redocumented

photographer ‘juliette erkelens’ sent me an interesting publication she has been working on recently

According to estimates there are 15.000 undocumented people in Amsterdam. In general they are irregular migrant workers, others are rejected asylum seekers, victims of trafficking, women trafficking and of a failed marriage migration.

In an art project, guided by Juliette Erkelens and Annette Kouwenhoven, images and stories of these people were collected. This unique photo collection includes the pictures of a group of twelve people, who used a (film)camera for this project. This resulted in a series of photographs, films, their own logo and business card. The project also combines sites and locations in Amsterdam with locations and memories of the country of origin. The lives of the people in Amsterdam will be followed; this publication is the first issue in a series.
