From 2005?2008, stephan doitschinoff traveled throughout the Brazilian countryside of Bahia, painting site-specific murals on adobe houses, chapels, and even a cemetery.

In the small village of Lençóis, he collaborated with local artisans, and expanded his research into the rich history of Brazilian folklore and the syncretism between Christian theology and African spiritual traditions.

i came across the portfolio of german photgraphy duo ‘daniel & geo fuchs’ today… whom i knew them from the amazing series of subtle, almost introverted, interior shots they made of the former east german ‘stasi’ HQ in berlin, but that surprisingly isn’t the only kind of work they make

graphic design before it had a name

…the markings are almost certainly a form of messaging – of graphic communication…

these ostrich eggs covered in markings have been all over the news this week, but still worth a mention i thought…

"The lines are crossed at right angles or oblique angles by hatching. By the repetition of this motif, early humans were trying to communicate something. Perhaps they were trying to express the identity of the individual or the group"
