i just watched this trailer for an upcoming docu-film on the creative industry, makes me feel optimistic and pessimistic all at once, more info and details here

A new generation of global creators and artists are emerging, equipped with other points of reference and other tools. The teachers aren’t certfied schools anymore -it’s web sites, discussion forums and a ?learn by doing?-mentality. We see the children of a digital age, unspoiled or uneducated depending on who you ask. Collaboration over hierarchy, digital over analog – a change in the way we produce, distribute and consume creative works.

very nice dutch modernist ‘dada-ish’ mid-1920’s letterhead, it isn’t credited to ‘piet zwart’ but i’m guessing it should be… or does anyone know better?

how to feed the world in in 9 minutes

nice little moving infographic made for an exhibition and aimed at kids, seeing as the original was french this is probably a secondary voice-over but it kind of lets it down a bit, in my opinion

stiff, scratchy and neurotic marks

i really love the underlying idea behind these tree drawings by british artist ‘tim knowles’

…a series of drawings produced using drawing implements attached to the tips of tree branches, the wind?s effects on the tree, recorded on paper. Like signatures each drawing reveals the different qualities and characteristics of each tree…

in fact his whole body of work on the site is fabulous and definitely worth a good look… (spotted via gestalten’s excellent new publication ‘data flow 2’)
