this is the work of german photographer michael wesely who has made some amazing work playing with the concept of time, the top picture is a school class portrait but shooting all of the children on the same piece of film using multiple exposures, the second is a 6 hour exposure in manhattan during the rush-hour but the exposure is so long that the movement blurs to nothing leaving the image empty…
the lower images are from several series that involve exposures varying from one to an incredible three(!) years… you can read and see more on his site but the images lose much of their impact at such a small size… apparently he was making a similar image in the world trade center when the 9/11 attack took place and lost everything… fascinating work…
