there is an upcoming symposium in amsterdam, organised by grafisch papier on the subject of record sleeve design with some big names: ‘peter saville’ (new order, joy division) and ‘storm thorgeson’ (led zeppelin, pink floyd), there will also be work on show from ‘anton corbijn’ and ‘stefan sagmeister’, the date is 15th of november and it sounds very interesting to me…
my mate, photographer lukas göbel is currently working on a fabulous project on the history of photography: he was invited to revisit the ‘pakantan’ valley in indonesia for a period of six weeks, where a dutch baptist missionary shot images of the local populace exactly 100 years ago…
lukas retraced his journey and recorded the current situation, here is a sneak preview of the series, which will be on show in haarlem late 2008 till early 2009, i will upload some more of the series and give more news on the exhibition later…

my friend ingmar de lange (who does brand consultancy thingies and that sort of stuff) asked me to design a spread for him explaining a strategy idea about the fusion of products and promotional activities, i often find these sorts of business models very confusing so scrabble seemed like an apt metaphor…
as the subject was promotion, i couldn’t resist temptation and did a bit of subtle PR for ‘me’ (see the two scrabble letters shown below)… oh by the way, dear scrabble folks, please don’t sue me it is only intended as a bit of fun…
