this what the owner of this blog has to say about his best parts:
A graphic designer, artist, and wannabe photographer loving life in Orlando, Florida. My overall sense of arrogance, combined with insecurity, makes me think others should care what I have to say. Thus, The Best Part was born in 2008. Read as much as you can stand.
well quite… nice blog though, with similar obsessions to mine and a nice eclectic mix of inspiration stuff

i’ve been a bit too busy to post any news about the adformatie 35 year special magazine, which i recently made together with eric kessels, pim gerrits (kessels kramer) mare nieborg (social safari) and thierry somers (quote magazine) but here are a few spreads to start with
the ‘chinese whispers’ series turned out very well i thought… (i will post the whole series translated into english in ‘me stuff’ very soon) and the series of images shot by the mothers of photographers was also fun (even though it was eventually used too small to see properly) thierry and i got equal credit for the art direction but in truth it was more to his credit than mine

in general i was very pleased with the result, however the most disappointing aspect was the fact that adformatie chose to place (i.e. sell) a ridiculous number of single page ads which must have been great for their bank account but was really bad news for the editorial content, oh well… the title was the ‘essence’ and the essence is, after all, about money i suppose… it wasn’t for us as we didn’t get paid a penny, still it was fun and inspiring to do and that is the real essence for me…

i’ll post some more images and explanations of the content as soon as i can find some time…
it’s been a while since i’ve seen any new work from ‘rineke dijkstra’ but this weekend she had a rather nice portrait series of ‘erwin olaf’ in ‘de volkskrant’ magazine

ironically erwin is complaining in the article about the ‘art scene’ that embraces people like ‘rineke’ but rejects outsiders like himself…

i saw this young photographer’s work at the unit ‘young talent’ market last friday, her name is ‘louise te poele’ and the portraits of farmers i found very striking…

her portfolio can be seen here (it’s a flash site which didn’t function properly in firefox for me, safari seemed ok)
