i spent the weekend in eindhoven attending the ‘dutch design week’ and the ‘dda’ awards ceremony last night, there were some fabulous entries amongst the nominees and seeing some of the industrial design work was quite a humbling experience for a graphic designer i found, posters and books seem quite arbitrary in their intrinsic worth compared to some of the amazing interior and product design pieces being made in the netherlands

the surprise overall ‘golden eye’ winner (+ graphic design & young talent awards!) was the fabulous pig book by ‘christien meindertsma’ and ‘julie joliat’ who both looked as surprised as everyone else when they went to collect their awards… congratulations to you both, well desrved if you ask me

here is the final bit of the magazine i made recently, this was an article on using ‘gut feeling or intuition versus ratio’, the two images were intended to be used as a spread (as shown below) but were unfortunately split up by adverts in the final version

many thanks to my wife ‘femke’ and brother-in-law ‘ruben’ for being so patient whilst i scribbled all over them during our holiday in italy this summer…
