the language of things

i thoroughly recommend this book ‘the language of things’ by london design museum director ‘deyan sudjic’ to any designer (graphic or otherwise) interested in understanding more about what our profession means in the world today… a fascinating and worrying book, if you ask me

sign of those times

here are three random (but deliberately chosen) posters that i came across this afternooon, the first is for an erotic art show, the second a book fair and the third for the 75 year anniversary of the dutch salvation army

what the actual text says doesn’t really matter, the images are what makes these three so striking to me…

all images were taken from this great archive collection

linked out

of all of the ‘social network’ sites available, i personally only really believe in ‘linkedin’ because it’s based (in my opinion) on linking useful contacts, not sharing idiotic videos and crap jokes… i have often been asked by friends if it’s ever worked for me, the answer is yes

‘linkedin’ is one of those tools that seems to come into it’s own at a time like this, when we all need to dig deeper in the ‘contacts’, it works because it’s based on the idea that we all share our contacts, so if you are one of those people who want to link up, but have opted to hide your own address book, don’t bother contacting me, you are totally missing the point, if you are interested in sharing your network, i’d love to hear from you, link me up here

talented photographer and friend lukas göbel has shared some of his recent work for the ‘filmmuseum’ with me

the portraits are part of an ongoing series of famous (and less-famous) film directors, actors and industry people
