loops

nice little piece (borrowed from the it’s nice that blog) which was made by accept and proceed for the loops festival 2009 in brighton UK, a bit of a peter saville homage which was shot (as shown) upside down to make it work, it really is nice that…

i put a spell on you

…so then fellini said to me… yeah…well fuck it… you know… and people lived in that world of typograpgiy gone mad!… but i mean what could you do? …a style that came out of necessity… so then they took out the black guy… we all thought we would become, you know… famous… i got to be… very close… to muhammed ali… i met the most beautiful woman in the world!… and then i got a phone call from alexander lieberman… i painted on the photograph…yeah… so this is putin, chirac, they’re so full of shit… ha ha… i hated the fashion world… i hated everybody… for me… it was… like… an epiphany, you know…

william klein the ‘sound bite machine’ talking about his life in the great little documentary i came across online yesterday…

…and here’s one last quote from him:
I didn?t relate to European photography. It was too poetic and anecdodtal for me…. The kinetic quality of New York, the kids, dirt, madness–I tried to find a photographic style that would come close to it. So I would be grainy and contrasted and black. I?d crop, blur, play with the negatives. I didn?t see clean technique being right for New York. I could imagine my pictures lying in the gutter like the New York Daily News.

organic design

yet another ‘crowdsourcing’ design competition, only this time it’s for ‘students only’ and the client is the european union, now don’t get me wrong… i think it’s great that students get a chance to make a real ‘live’ project and the winner does get paid ?6.000 but… surely the european union should be encouraging and helping people to get real jobs and earn real money for their labour instead of jumping on the ‘get designers to work for free and promise them it’s great fun to be able to show their talent to the world’ bandwagon…
