the finished poster for the exhibition in hoorn (see two post previous) also arrived back this week…

my friends from ‘fontanel’ also posted a short article on the expo yesterday (dutch only) and sorry for the crappy images, due to the spots hanging everywhere it was almost impossible to make a decent image in the building…

my intern ‘joris’ has decided to impose a brief for himself during his internship: ‘create a poster for each week that reflects that week’

as we tend to spend a lot of time listening to electronic music during the daytime, this obviously seems to be playing a large role in his subject matter so far…

i’m looking forward to seeing the complete set progress, have a peak yourself at the latest batch right here, we will be printing the whole series out (large scale) before he leaves ‘me’ at the end of march…

two new posters for the dutch national ’12-’13 campaign arrived back from the printers this week…

the phrase ‘imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery’ seems highly appropriate for this image:
the dutch national ballet recently received the above poster made for a school arts project: seventeen-year-old ‘roos oerlemans’ made an homage to our recent ‘swan lake’ poster, she recreated the ‘swan’ costume at home, did her own make up, shot the image and put the poster together all by herself, nice work roos! looks like i am out of a job soon then… (many thanks to ‘sandra eikelenboom’ for the tip)

three new posters in our series for the ‘amsterdam music theater’ nearing completion this week…

we spent last friday in a dance studio with mister ‘ruud baan’ shooting the first of the new poster image series for the dutch national ballet (season 12-13)

many thanks to everyone who helped to make it a successful day, including firstly ruud of course but also the dancers (‘anna tsygankova’ from russia, ‘james stout’ from canada, ‘anatole babenko’ from russia, ‘sebastien galtier’ from france and ‘jared wright’ from australia) and my clients ‘ted and sandra’ who all worked very hard to make the image we wanted…

it was quite an unusual idea this one and i’ll post some more image as soon as we have sorted it all out, should be great when finished i think

two posters i made for the ‘sugar factory’ this week

we are currently in the final stages of the preparation for the exhibition ’50 years of posters’ for the dutch national ballet at the dutch poster museum in hoorn, the show opens on sunday the 29th of january and runs through to mid april, divided between two large spaces in the museum with a large selection of highly varied posters, almost half of the selection comprises the work we have done for them in teh past ten yeras… looking forward to seeing it all hanging together in one place for the first time ever…

i spotted our latest ‘sssst’ poster for the sugar factory nightclub in town this weekend, i’m very pleased with this one and it’s probably the last one before we introduce the new ‘sugar’ identity next month, more news soon…

i currently seem to have an obsession with old ‘anton beeke’ posters, like this one with a wonderfully weird handmade cow for a film festival…

we have just completed a new poster for an exhibition of 50 years ‘dutch national ballet posters’ which opens on the 29th of january (till late apri) at the dutch poster museum in the small town of ‘hoorn’

a series of roughly 50 of our posters are featured in the show and were also used to create the paper tutu shown above…

i’ve been doing some research: the dutch national ballet ‘bacchanten’ poster from ’86 by anton beeke posted last week in fact appears to be part of a tryptich… the other two have slightly more erotic scenes with knickers being removed etc…

a set of classic ‘anton beeke’ posters which i got hold of last week, including the top one for ‘toneelgroep amsterdam’ which i rank as one of his very best, the poster is beautifully printed in mat black and the blue rectangle is actually a UV gloss layer on top…
