i put a spell on you

…so then fellini said to me… yeah…well fuck it… you know… and people lived in that world of typograpgiy gone mad!… but i mean what could you do? …a style that came out of necessity… so then they took out the black guy… we all thought we would become, you know… famous… i got to be… very close… to muhammed ali… i met the most beautiful woman in the world!… and then i got a phone call from alexander lieberman… i painted on the photograph…yeah… so this is putin, chirac, they’re so full of shit… ha ha… i hated the fashion world… i hated everybody… for me… it was… like… an epiphany, you know…

william klein the ‘sound bite machine’ talking about his life in the great little documentary i came across online yesterday…

…and here’s one last quote from him:
I didn?t relate to European photography. It was too poetic and anecdodtal for me…. The kinetic quality of New York, the kids, dirt, madness–I tried to find a photographic style that would come close to it. So I would be grainy and contrasted and black. I?d crop, blur, play with the negatives. I didn?t see clean technique being right for New York. I could imagine my pictures lying in the gutter like the New York Daily News.
